Vision and Mission

The official Vision and Mission of Melukavu Grama Panchayat in Kottayam district, envisioned under the general guidelines of the Local Self-Government Department (LSGD) of Kerala, are as follows:

Vision

To transform Melukavu Grama Panchayat into a self-reliant local institution through a transparent and citizen-friendly governance system based on democratic principles and active public participation. We ensure an excellent living environment that prioritizes the needs and opinions of every individual in society.

Mission

The following key missions have been envisaged for the sustainable development of the Grama Panchayat and the social security of its people:

  • Sustainable Development and Social Security: Fulfilling constitutional responsibilities to ensure local development and provide social security for the poor and marginalized sections of society.

  • Good Governance: Delivering panchayat services to the public quickly and transparently through the maximum utilization of Information and Communication Technology (ICT/E-Governance).

  • Infrastructure Development: Providing housing, clean drinking water, high-quality roads, public toilets, and transport facilities to improve the living standards of the rural population.

  • Public Participation: Ensuring the active involvement of common citizens and Grama Sabhas in the planning processes and decision-making of the panchayat.

  • Health and Sanitation: Effectively implementing waste management projects to maintain Melukavu as a fully clean village while fostering health awareness among the public.

  • Employment and Poverty Eradication: Formulating self-employment schemes by prioritizing agriculture and allied sectors to eliminate poverty in the rural region.
