Steering Committee

The Steering Committee plays a crucial role in the administration and policy-making of Grama Panchayats in Kerala.

Constitution and Structure

  • Chairperson: Grama Panchayat President
  • Members: Grama Panchayat Vice President and Chairpersons of various Standing Committees (Finance, Development, Welfare)
  • Convenor: Panchayat Secretary

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordination: Coordinate the activities of various Standing Committees and review their reports and recommendations.
  • Organizing Panchayat Meetings: Prepare the agenda and priority list of subjects to be considered in the general meetings of the Grama Panchayat.
  • Emergency Decisions: Take necessary provisional decisions on administrative matters during emergency situations when the Panchayat Board cannot meet, and later submit them for the Board's approval.
  • Financial and Development Oversight: Evaluate the progress of Panchayat projects and provide necessary advice to the President on development matters.
