Planning Committee
The Panchayat Planning Committee is the key advisory body for planning and implementing the local development projects of Local Self-Government Institutions (Grama Panchayat). Under the People's Plan Campaign, the preparation of the panchayat's annual and five-year plans takes place under the leadership of this committee.
Key Responsibilities and Structure:
• Leadership: The Grama Panchayat President serves as the chairperson of the committee, and the Panchayat Secretary serves as the convener.
• Members: This committee consists of ward members, experts from various fields, officials from various departments such as agriculture/health/education, Kudumbashree representatives, and others.
• Preparation of Development Document: Consolidates suggestions and requirements arising from Gramasabhas to formulate the development plans (Plan Formulation) of the panchayat.
• Setting Priorities: Sets priorities and allocates necessary funds for sectors such as basic infrastructure, agriculture, sanitation, social welfare, and women empowerment.
• Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitors whether projects are completed on time and whether allocated funds are utilized efficiently.
